A Climate Movement For Everyone
The climate movement in Australia has made significant progress in raising awareness, pushing for policy change, and expanding renewable energy, but for too long, it has often overlooked the voices and needs of multicultural communities, failing to fully engage. We are here to change that.
Asian Australian for Climate Solutions is a registered Non-for-profit organisation founded by a group of Australians from different Asian backgrounds who care about creating a better world for our children. We believe that climate action should include everyone—no matter where they come from.
Who We Are
We are a diverse group of Australians from Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Singaporean, Sri Lankan and other Asian backgrounds working together to take real climate action. Our movement is about bringing people together, making sure our voices are heard, and creating solutions that work for our communities.
Our People
Our team, board, and partners come from different multicultural backgrounds, but we are united by our passion for protecting the planet. We also partner with multiple local climate groups and organisations in Australia such as Doctors for Environment, Environment Victoria, Parents for Climate, Renew Australia For All etc.
Why This Matters
For long time, Australia has been one of the world’s biggest polluters. While the climate movement has grown, it has often failed to engage multicultural communities. Many of us want to be part of the solution but don’t see ourselves represented.
We are changing that by:
✅ Raising awareness in our communities about climate change
✅ Building a strong network of multicultural climate advocates
✅ Working with policymakers to push for real action
✅ Supporting other Asian-led climate groups to grow and connect
What We Stand For
To fight for a healthier, more affordable, and climate-friendly future, we are standing up for two big changes:
Our homes play a major role in Australia’s emissions. In fact, 40% of Australia’s total greenhouse gas emissions come from our 10 million homes. Many of these homes still rely on natural gas (mainly methane) for heating water, cooking, and warming indoor spaces.
This is a problem because:
⚠️ Gas is expensive—gas prices are rising, making household bills harder to afford.
⚠️ It’s harmful to our health—burning gas in our homes releases toxic pollutants, increasing the risk of asthma and respiratory illnesses.
⚠️ It fuels climate change—burning gas in our homes releases powerful greenhouse gases that traps heat in the atmosphere, making global warming worse.
1) Electrifying Our Homes – We want every home to be energy-efficient, running on clean electricity instead of polluting gas. Modern electric appliances like heat pumps, induction cooktops, and solar-powered systems are not only better for the environment but also cheaper to run in the long term.
Right now, about 60% of Australia’s electricity still comes from coal—one of the biggest sources of pollution and climate change. But we have a choice.
By transitioning to clean energy like solar and wind, we can ensure a healthier future, lower energy bills, and a safer planet for our children.
2) Australia’s Clean Energy Transition – We are pushing for a fast transition to 100% clean electricity by replacing coal and gas with solar and wind power. Clean energy means lower bills, less pollution, and a safe climate for future generations.
With some states leading this already as Tasmania’s grid is 99% renewable energy and SA is at 74%, Victoria at 40% renewable energy in the grid so far etc.
Our Impact
Climate change is not a distant threat—it’s happening now. From extreme heatwaves to bushfires and floods, we are already seeing its devastating effects. This is not just about us—it’s about our children and future generations.
