Climate Action Check List

While the Australian government aims for net zero by 2050, we can all take steps now to reduce our carbon footprint through Personal Change. However, it’s just as important to push for Local change and Widespread Action by holding businesses and governments accountable.

Widespread Change

N

Meet or email your local MP and ask them to support climate-friendly policies.

N

Ask your local council for help in making your community more eco-friendly.

N

Make sure your money is invested in the right places. Email your bank, or switch to a bank or super fund that supports clean energy.

N

Get involved in petitions or projects that help the environment, reduce pollution, or promote renewable energy.

Local Change

N

Talk to your school, childcare, community groups, or places of worship about ways to minimise their environmental impact.

N

Plan zero-waste parties, events, or festivals to cut down on waste.

N

Share what you're doing to reduce your impact on the environment to encourage others to do the same.

Personal Change

N

Install solar panels or choose energy providers that use renewable energy (Solar or wind power) for your home.

N

Replace gas-powered appliances with electric ones in your home.

N

Walk, drive or use public transport. Share rides to school or work with your neighbors.

N

Consider switching to an electric car or use e-bikes and scooters to cut down on pollution.

N

Trees absorb carbon dioxide. Plant trees or support programs that do.

N

Grow your own vegetables and share them with family, friends, and your community.

N

Reduce how much meat, especially beef, and dairy you eat to help lower your carbon footprint. Try eating more plant based meals.

N

Instead of throwing food scraps away, turn them into compost to reduce methane emissions and create healthy soil.

N

Buy local and sustainable products to reduce emissions from transportation.
